About Our Fitness Programs
BGCK Fitness Classes go beyond traditional team sports to develop well-rounded, active youth. Our programs focus on fundamental movement skills, general athleticism, and a love for physical activity that will serve participants throughout their lives, whether they are future athletes or simply want to stay healthy and active.
All fitness classes are held at the Boys & Girls Club facility. BGC membership is included with your sports registration. No prior athletic experience is needed for any program.

Sporties For Shorties is our introductory athletics program designed for our youngest members ages 3-6. Through age-appropriate games, activities, and movement challenges, kids develop coordination, balance, agility, and basic motor skills. Each session introduces a different sport or physical activity in a playful, non-competitive environment. It is the perfect first step into organized physical activity for preschool and kindergarten-aged children.

Through our partnership with Carthage College, BGCK youth get access to sport-specific clinics led by college student-athletes and coaches. These clinics offer high-level instruction in various sports and fitness disciplines, giving our members exposure to collegiate-level training techniques. Clinics rotate through different sports throughout the year and provide a unique opportunity for our youth to learn from and be inspired by college athletes.

Our Speed, Agility, and Running program develops the athletic foundation that benefits every sport. Training sessions include sprint mechanics, lateral quickness drills, change-of-direction work, acceleration technique, and endurance running. Whether a participant plays basketball, football, soccer, or just wants to get faster, this program builds the explosive speed and agility that translate across all athletic endeavors.
