Tumbling & Trampoline

Master three dynamic events: rod floor tumbling, double mini trampoline, and regulation trampoline. Develop power, air awareness, and acrobatic skills.

About Tumbling & Trampoline

Our Tumbling & Trampoline (T&T) program teaches athletes to master three exciting events recognized by USA Gymnastics. Athletes develop power tumbling skills on our rod floor, learn dynamic combinations on the double mini trampoline, and build air awareness on the regulation trampoline.

T&T is a great fit for athletes who love flipping and flying. The skills developed in this program cross over to many other sports and activities. Students who demonstrate exceptional ability may be invited to join our competitive T&T team.

The Three Events

Rod Floor Tumbling

Power tumbling performed on a 25-meter rod floor runway. The rod floor provides extra spring and power, allowing athletes to achieve greater height and distance than on a standard floor. Athletes perform tumbling passes of increasing difficulty, building toward connected series of flips and twists.

Double Mini Trampoline

Athletes sprint down a runway, mount a small trampoline, perform skills in the air, and land on a mat. This event combines the speed and power of tumbling with the flight of trampoline. Skills progress from basic jumps to complex flip and twist combinations.

Regulation Trampoline

Athletes perform routines of 10 consecutive skills on a competition-sized trampoline. Skills range from basic jumps and drops to advanced somersaults with multiple twists. This event develops exceptional air awareness, spatial orientation, and body control.

Class Levels

Level 1 — Beginner

Ages 6+ | No experience required

Introduction to all three T&T events. Athletes learn fundamental body positions, basic jumps and drops on trampoline, beginning tumbling skills on the rod floor, and the approach for double mini. Safety awareness and proper technique are emphasized throughout.

Basic trampoline jumps
Seat/back/front drops
Forward/backward rolls (rod)
Double mini mount & dismount
Body positions & shapes
Straight jump sequences
Safety & spotting awareness
Flexibility & conditioning

Level 2 — Intermediate

Ages 6+ | Level 1 completion or coach evaluation

Building complexity across all events. Athletes work on flip progressions, connecting skills on the trampoline, developing power tumbling passes on the rod floor, and performing skills on the double mini. Increased conditioning and body control demands.

Front/back tuck on trampoline
Combination sequences
Round-off back handspring (rod)
Double mini spotter skills
Twisting progressions
10-skill trampoline routines
Tumbling pass connections
Strength & power training

Level 3 — Advanced

Ages 8+ | Coach recommendation required

Advanced skill development with competition-style training. Athletes work on multi-flip and twisting combinations across all events. Training intensity increases with greater emphasis on form, consistency, and competition preparation. Athletes may be evaluated for T&T team placement.

Twisting somersaults (tramp)
Advanced routine composition
Layout & full twist (rod)
Double mini flip combinations
Competition preparation
Multi-skill tumbling passes
Advanced conditioning
Mental training & focus
