The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha is proud to offer exclusive scholarship opportunities to our members through partnerships with local colleges and generous donors. These scholarships help remove the financial barriers to higher education and recognize the hard work, dedication, and character that our members demonstrate every day.

Scholarship eligibility requires active Club membership. Talk to your Teen Center staff about how to prepare a strong application.

Academic Scholarships

Carthage College Buchanan Scholarship

Up to 7 Awards

The Carthage College Buchanan Scholarship is one of the most significant scholarship opportunities available to BGCK members. Each year, up to seven graduating seniors can receive a four-year scholarship to attend Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. This scholarship covers a substantial portion of tuition and is renewable for all four years of undergraduate study, provided the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progress.

The scholarship is named in honor of the Buchanan family's commitment to youth education in Kenosha. Recipients are selected based on academic performance, community involvement, leadership demonstrated through Club activities, and financial need.

Herzing University Scholarship

2 Full-Ride Awards

Through a partnership with Herzing University, the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha awards two full-ride scholarships each year. These scholarships cover the full cost of tuition for an undergraduate degree program at Herzing University, which offers career-focused programs in healthcare, technology, business, and public safety.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for members who are interested in pursuing a career-oriented degree. Recipients are selected based on academic commitment, personal character, Club involvement, and career goals.

Sports Scholarships

Frank Matrise Jr. Memorial Scholarship

The Frank Matrise Jr. Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of a dedicated BGCK volunteer and sports advocate. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, leadership, and dedication through participation in BGCK sports programs.

Applicants must have participated in at least one BGCK sports league and demonstrate strong character both on and off the field. Applications are accepted during the spring semester with sport-specific deadlines.

Pat Quilling Sports Scholarship

The Pat Quilling Sports Scholarship recognizes student-athletes who exemplify the values of hard work, perseverance, and positive sportsmanship in BGCK sports leagues. This award supports graduating seniors as they continue their education beyond high school.

Eligible applicants must be active BGCK members with a history of participation in Club sports. The application process includes a personal essay and coach recommendation. Application deadlines are sport-specific.

How to Apply

Maintain Active Membership

All scholarship applicants must be active Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha members in good standing. Teen membership is free, so there is no cost barrier to eligibility.

Talk to Teen Center Staff

Visit the Teen Center to learn about available scholarships, application requirements, and deadlines. Staff can help you identify the scholarships you are eligible for and guide you through the process.

Prepare Your Application

Applications typically require a personal essay, academic transcript, letters of recommendation, and documentation of Club involvement. Start early and allow time for review by staff mentors.

Submit on Time

Application deadlines vary by scholarship. Academic scholarship applications are typically due in the spring semester. Sports scholarship deadlines are sport-specific. Late applications may not be considered.
